Show off your your winning personality with one of these funny coffee mugs. Not only does a sip from these instantly brighten your day, but you can also feel good that you're reducing the use of paper coffee cups and doing something for the environment.

Chances are, if you're using a coffee mug, you're also saving money with cheap (or better yet, free) coffee. It's a win-win!

I don't know about you, but I can't start my day without a cup of coffee, and a cool mug like one of these is just the thing to make me less grumpy in the morning. If I can lighten my mood with a smile, a laugh, or a little inside joke, then why not?
Can't start your day without a hot cup of coffee? Me neither. I've managed to break the $5/day latte habit by making it at home. (I'll share my money-saving recipe, later.) But sometimes, I still need to take my coffee to go.
I never thought I’d be writing about how to organize your refrigerator, of all things, until I became a woman with 99 refrigerator problems that caused me to misplace food, have to clean up spills, or have to pull everything out of the fridge to find what I'm looking for. I went through a bit of trial and error to get things under control, so I thought I'd share what I learned and maybe save some of you some time and money along the way.
Ever since George Foreman first taught us how to "knock out the fat" by letting the grease run off, I've been looking for a better way to grill and griddle. These cooking methods are quick, easy, and healthy, but the problem back in the day -- other than the lack of removable plates for easy cleanup -- was that the health gains from siphoning off the fat were negated by using a Teflon cooking surface.

While great strides have been made to offer consumers choices in eco-friendly pans for the stove top, electric cookware has unfortunately not kept pace with the green revolution.

Nevertheless, I found a few PFOA and PTFE free electrics to choose from in the quest to live green and eliminate Teflon and toxic cookware from the kitchen, including this first model from Hamilton Beach.
Yes, the eco-conscious among us already know that we should be conserving our natural resources and taking care of the environment we live in, and we don't need a cookie as incentive.
But, as long as you're recycling anyway, you might as well enjoy a reward for it. And it might be just the thing you need to get hubby, the surly teenagers, or the neighbor who always throws bottles in the trash on board.
If you or someone you know could use a little reward for going green, check this out.
My shower cleaning routine used to be the same as many of yours: Tilex Bathroom Cleaner for soap scum, and Tilex Mold & Mildew (or some other brand) for deep cleaning.

As much as I like the whole "spray and walk away" thing, the fumes from my bathroom sprays bothered me so bad that cleaning my bathroom was like launching some kind of scorched earth attack. I would start spraying the area furthest from the door, backing my way closer to the exit, eventually having to evacuate when the fumes started to suffocate me, my eyes started to burn, and my head started to hurt. The bleach in the Tilex did me in every time.

Then after cleaning, I would have to avoid the bathroom for the rest of the day because the residual fumes where so bad. Needless to say, this was not gonna work for me. So the hunt for an alternative bathroom cleaner was on.
Have you experienced "new shower curtain smell"? That plasticky, overpowering odor that nearly gives you a headache? That's the smell of polyvinyl chloride (aka PVC) releasing toxic gases into the air -- and getting all up in your bathroom.

A few years ago, I got fed up with the fumes and looked for an alternative. The more I thought about it, the crazier it seemed that I was basically taking a steam bath in chemicals. I could barely stand the smell long enough to take a shower. Then I found odorless EVA shower curtains [Amazon], and I've been buying them ever since.
I had gotten to the point where I was cooking nearly every meal in them -- they're so easy to use -- and I decided that I'd better switch to something without Teflon.

In the process of choosing new cookware, I looked at everything that was out there. Here are my reviews of some of the best green cookware brands:

The Cuisinart Green Gourmet Skillet was the first pan I tried. I was drawn by the fact that it was a brand I recognized -- which now I know doesn't make it the better choice -- and it was advertised as free of PFOA free and PTFE (Teflon) free.

It was great at first, but soon lost the ability to turn out decent eggs and fish without sticking, which was the main reason I bought it. I actually bought a second one, thinking I had simply misused the first, which it turns out I had, in a way. You should never use heat higher than medium, which I didn't know. It does come with a lifetime warranty, but I ended up moving on to another pan.

See my pick for the best Green frying pan under $50. I've also reviewed some PTFE free Electric Griddles for those of you looking for eco friendly options.
It's the easiest way to make egg white omelettes and to pan-fry tilapia filets -- two of my favorite eats. The more I've used my nonstick pans, the more uses I've found for them. With all the heavy usage they get in my household, it's important to make sure that they're not causing any harm to my family's health.
Have you ever really thought about what's in your nonstick cookware, or what happens when you heat it up? Let's take a closer look at those popular nonstick pans.
